TO ALL FAITHFUL IN CHRIST to whom these present writings shall come William son of Philip Veget (Vegett on verso) sends greetings. For certain considerations and for the health of my soul and of the souls of my predecessors doth give and concede and by the my present charter confirm to God and the Blessed Mary and Saint John Baptist and to the Brothers of the Sacred House of the Hospital of Jerusalem, four pence rent which Gilbert of Spain owes as rent per year as the fourth part of a term for the portion of land he holds from me. Paying on the Feast of St Michael one penny, on the Birth of the Lord one penny, at Easter one penny, at the Birth of St John Baptist one penny. Wherefore I desire that the said Brothers of the Holy House assume and have in pure and perpetual alms the said rent of four pence on the same terms as the said Gilbert, and their heirs freeely, quietly and entirely, well and peaceably in perpetuity without let or hindrance from me or my heirs. AND I the said William and my heirs shall warrant the said four pence rent to the aforesaid Brothers of the Holy House of Jerusalem in accordance with our alms, in perpetuity against all men and women. AND that this my gift and concession and confirmation shall remain permanent and stable for all time I have affixed the impression of my seal to this present charter.
